Cecily Moon originally studied art and design at OCA. A fascination with the weird and wonderful jottings on the margins of illuminated manuscripts, aptly named "marginalia." proved enduring. These small, often hybrid creatures seemed more akin to the way we think, act, move and feel, than the more important central panels. Their influence; vibrant and filled with life, runs through her work. A life-long love and involvement in dance and movement also inform her practise. Working primarily in mixed/digital media, but also artist's books, landscape design and tile, her work has been shown across Canada and the USA and is many collections, including the AGO. With a BFA from Mount Allison University in drawing and an MFA in mixed media & design from Long Island University, NY., she taught art and design primarily in the post-secondary arena since 1995, most recently at the OCADU. Experience as a children's entertainment duo, working with families and children of all ages and diverse ethnic background, sparked an interest in returning to the children and adult audience again. She has taught and been on the roster in artists-in-the-school program in Ontario, Oklahoma, New York and Pennsylvania Provincial and State arts councils and has taught in many museum programs and art schools.
