Ever wonder how museums came to be? Where did all that stuff come from, anyway? In this workshop we will not only explore the fascinating origins and histories of the modern day museum, we will also consider what the future holds for our own cultural institutions. From the strange and macabre Cabinet of Curiosities of Renaissance Europe to the nostalgia-infused historical house museums that grace our own fine city, how we celebrate and document our material culture is an ever changing story. The art project developed for this seminar will be inspired by the creepy history of narrative and display!

Interest Level – Those with an interest in historical narratives and a creative spark. No previous art history knowledge necessary.
